CMII - You know it makes sense! Great success today - I have managed to introduce a "Fast Track" procedure into our Training Development system. Still working on a Bottom-up approach to introducing CMII methodology I was able to suggest that when a customer notes a minor error in our courseware and submits a change proposal I have the authority to fast-track the change directly to the courseware creator, who then simply makes the correction and then informs me that the correction has been made. I then validate the correction and inform the customer that we have complied with his suggested correction. Prior to introducing this fast-track procedure the arrangement was that for even the smallest correction to our courseware would have then had to go through a long chain of quality assurance before the courseware was subsequently released. In all modesty I suggest that this simple fast-track procedure will easily result in a cost-saving that will pay for my CMII training and the running costs of employing me as Configuration Management Engineer.
