I want to attend the CMII Conference in Seattle to attain my CMII Professional qualification.
With all due modesty, I knew my PDR would be pretty good, simply based on all the comments and feedback I have received since I became the Configuration Management Engineer for the Customer Training Centre of the aerospace company for whom I work. Actually, my sole aim from my PDR was to attempt to convince my Line Manager that it would benefit my company by me attending the CMII Conference in Seattle this September as a Speaker in order to gain my CMII Professional (CMIIP) qualification. I had prepared for this reveiw over the past few months by outlining my reasoning for me to attend the conference and obtain the CMIIP qualification and took as much supporting evidence into the review as I could. Actually I felt that I had quickly gained his support and he agreed to take the case to his manager, to see if the funding could be found for me to attend the conference as a Speaker. My presentation would be on "The Configuration Management of Training", a subject that I strongly believe has become an essential aspect of training. I believe that all training should be fundementally configuration managed to ensure that all students receive the same training. Currently, I am informed that my management support my initiative, but are worried that I would be going in "cold" to give my presentation, without having any knowledge of the standard of presentation by the other speakers. Therefore, my manager is proposing that I attend this year's conference as a delegate in order to experience the quality of the presentations, then attend next year's conference as a Speaker, in order to gain my CMIIP qualification. Naturally, I can live with this suggestion as I would love to attend the conference and find out what other CMII graduates are getting up to, plus find out if anyone else is doing configuration management of training.
Watch this space to see if I do get to Seattle.
